Massaging Gel Insoles Review | Are You Gellin?

Dr. Scholl’s is a trusted brand of which I have patronized over the years. The company has been in operation for nearly one hundred years. Their insoles and inserts are designed for specific foot situations such as work, sports, arch/heel support, and walking. Working as a server and restaurant manager years ago, I used Dr. Scholl’s inserts to support the ball and heel of my feet. They performed exceptionally, providing relief for my achy, overworked feet and legs. Given my personal experience, I was eager to review the new massaging gel insoles. Much to my dismay, the insoles I received were for men, size 8-13, designed to add support, absorb shock, and supply maximize comfort. The instructions direct the user to cut the insole to fit the shoes size. However, cutting to fit my shoe would have likely wasted at least one third of the sole. Hhhmmm   Dr. Scholl’s Massaging Gel Soles Review I decided to pass the...

Allergy or Zombie Virus?

Allergy or Zombie Virus?

Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether you have plain old allergies or something more sinister like, say, a zombie virus. We’re here to help! It’s important to know if you’re in danger of spreading an apocalyptic virus to your loved ones, coworkers or laundry guy, so here’s how you can tell the difference between allergy symptoms (even severe ones) and a full-fledged zombie virus. A rash can accompany both an allergic reaction and a zombie virus. Mild allergy rashes may itch. Zombie rashes are not so much raised and itchy as they are cavernous oozing wounds that seep gore. If you ask your spouse to look at your rash and he or she gasps in horror and slowly backs away, chances are that you have a zombie virus. If your spouse has this reaction to a regular allergy rash, tell them cowboy up, get the cortizone and call the advice nurse. Honestly, this is marriage. They’ll see worse. You...

Suddenly Allergic: What Causes Allergies Later in Life?

Some people develop allergies in childhood, some are born with allergies to medications and certain foods and some people suddenly find themselves experiencing allergy symptoms to things that never bothered them before. Why do we suddenly develop reactions to products and surroundings we have enjoyed in the past? Women report their favorite cosmetics suddenly cause rashes. Men and women both claim a sudden onset of coughing and sneezing around the ten-year old family pet. Others complain they ache and feel overly tired after a brief time in a large department store. If any of these reports sound familiar, you may be experiencing chemical overload. Protecting your liver is vital to living a healthy life. The liver affects every other organ in the body and works with the systems that control metabolism and digestion. The liver works continuously to cleanse the body of toxins and impurities. This major organ stores some vitamins and enzymes for months or even years in...

10 Eat Your Peas and Thank You Tips

10 Eat Your Peas and Thank You Tips

When Veggies = I don’t like it mom! What kids do not know will truly help them! I was fortunate to have two boys who loved veggies. Perhaps that was the result of feeding them every veggie imaginable as soon as table food was appropriate. As the boys became social, our house then became “the neighborhood hang-out”. As such, frequent dinner guests resulted along with lots of experience with veggie haters. As I recall the most common complaint was canned vegetables. On more than one occasion, different children and teens told me fresh steamed vegetables tasted nothing like the canned vegetables their family ate. Outside of beans, fresh or frozen vegetables were the only type I served. While I’m no child professional these tips and tricks helped to entice kids to each veggies. Require them to eat new vegetables Offer one tablespoon- 1)      With explanation, “You have to eat one spoonful. If you like these as much as I do...

Zenni Optical – A Midlife Shout Out!

Zenni Optical – A Midlife Shout Out!

This post brought to you by Zenni Optical. All opinions are 100% mine.  Good vision is not something not to be taken for granted. With the onset of midlife came a decline in vision. The optometrist affirmed this was a common middle-aged occurrence and in generally, the vision continues to diminish as we age.  This didn’t spur a midlife crisis as I immediately thought about my youngest son Red. He was born with very bad vision, nearly legally blind in one eye. While his vision problems were to a legal extent corrected by glasses, his vision was never correct. Recalling our first visit to the ophthalmologist when he was only 15 months old was a sad milestone however, it curbed that midlife crisis for me. Unlike Red and so many others, I had the good fortune of perfect vision for many years. Zenni Optical provides affordable and fashionable eyeglasses. In fact, Time magazine Editor Bill Saporito discussed a $1000 pair...

A Midlife Green Tea Binge

A Midlife Green Tea Binge

Summertime heat and cool beverages, have you tried iced green tea? For some it is the health benefits of green tea, for others it stirs memories of cold nights by the fireplace or perhaps its gallons of sun tea brewing on the back porch. Of all the teas available, it appears green tea is number one in growing popularity. Research around the globe continues to provide hard evidence supporting the health benefits long associated with drinking green tea. Studies such as Journal of the National Cancer Institute and Perdue University conclude green tea is helpful in health conditions or diseases such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, infection, impaired immune function, and dieting.   Midlife Green Tea Binge The onset of this green tea diet phenomenon really sparked my interest. After all, reports claim the Chinese have known about the medicinal benefits of green tea since ancient times. Upon reading the research, and the hype, on...
