Delicious Dessert Giveaway – Mississippi Mud Supreme Bars

As promised, this is a sneak peek of Betty Crocker’s new Mississippi Mud Supreme Bar mix. These all new brownie bars are scheduled on the shelves this summer. Thanks to Betty Crocker and MyBlogSpark for providing the Mississippi Mud Supreme Bar mix, and the review opportunity, and one “Delicious Dessert” prize pack to share with you!

On to the baking process!

For the crust you will need 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Butter, margarine, or spread.

For the batter you will need 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Butter, margarine, or spread, 3 tablespoons of water, and 1 egg.

Easy enough, both are common ingredients and usually on hand.

First preheat the oven to 325. Gather the ingredients, items needed to melt butter, and two mixing bowls. Pour the crust package into one bowl. Melt 1/4 cup of butter and combine with crust mix. Stir using a fork until moistened and looks like Mississippi mud! Missisippi Mud Crust

Reserve 1/4 cup of mud crumbs to sprinkle on top. Press the remaining crumbs firmly and evenly into an un-greased 8′ x 8′ pan.

Mississippi Mud Bars

Pour the batter mix into the second bowl. Melt the second 1/4 cup of butter. Stir the bar mix, water, melted butter and egg until well blended. Spread batter evenly over the crust. Spreading was a bit tricky. Using a large spoon, I gobbed the batter over the crust and pressed down each gob, then smoothed over with the back of the spoon. Finally, sprinkle the remaining mud on top.

Mississippi Mud Bars

Package instructs to bake for 39 – 42 minutes; I baked for 40 minutes and cooled pan atop a baking rack. These bars are really good. The center is moist and the marshmallows add just the right amount of gooey sweetness. The crunchy crumbs offer a cookie feel and are a great contrast for the moist brownie like center. And, I wouldn’t recommend these to those who are looking for quick weight loss LOL

    I don’t use a lot of baking mixes, but this looks pretty delicious! Today I’m baking a Betty Crocker Super Moist Butter Recipe Chocolate cake … as soon as the butter softens. (That’ll teach me not to read the instructions in advance!)
