Follow Friday|40 and Over Midlife Top Blogs 5

Well another week has come and gone. Time sure passes quickly these days. Seems as though the Follow Friday Over 40 Top 5 arrive more quickly each week. Wonder if this expediting has something to do with the midlife phase or how much fun they are to partake. Hope your Independence Day was filled with family, friends, and incredible food! This was the first year we didn’t buy fireworks or have a big shindig but rather a relaxing day of movies and yes lots of traditional 4th of July food. Admittedly, I enjoyed this midlife occurrence. Anyhow, I whipped up a new version of deviled eggs adding Zesty Blends sour cream with Jalapenos. Sprinkled with smoked paprika, they were quite yummy I must say. You see, I hosted a Sour Cream House Party a few weeks back. Yes, I said sour cream party, funny right. Sponsored by Breakstone’s, the House Party offered participation in tasting and testing their new...

Google Plus Project – Top Women Bloggers 2011

Greetings and salutations midlife bloggers, it has been too long since I last shared a 2011 Top Women Bloggers post. I claimed in the first post of the  series, “Not only did I really rethink my blog plans, but it also boosted my confidence, increased my courage, and inspired me to write more about my passions, inspirations, and experiences” however,  the outcome was two top women blog posts. The old adage it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks applies. Truth be told, focus is quite difficult for this spontaneous and A.D.D. inflicted midlife woman. Managing to stay on task for an entire month with the Follow Friday-Over 40 Top Five presented new connections, a fresh awareness, and personal motivation.  To overcome my lack of focus, I’ve decided to share a written plan for the Top Women Bloggers 2011 series. Thanks friends! The Top Women Bloggers 2011 Series AGAIN My purpose for the series is two fold, the...

My Street Wear Picks Perfect match for those purple shades I was dreaming about, don’t you think??? The shoes are impressive and just my style however I’m not sure midlife allows for this high of a platform shoe, uughh! Platform shoes were one of my favorites next to maybe Candies. Anybody remember those strappy sandals with spike and/or wedge heels? –    -    -    -     –   This combo is perfect for Independence Day. I simply adore back packs especially with the fringes. The corked sole shoes are so 70s and admittedly more feasible for this middle aged woman. They look very much like clogs with open toes don’t they? –   –    -   –   –     Happy 4th! Follow Friday|40 and Over Midlife Top Blogs #4

Hope everyone had a superb week. The midlife outlook is still the same here and I am happy to report no catastrophes came to pass, thank the Lord.  The job search is ongoing and in the name of extra income, I agreed to a bit of wishful window browsing.  Java won’t be hosting the Follow Friday this week as such my top five picks came from a previous week. However, before I share my top five midlife blogs, I have a question for you all.   What you think of a midlife redhead wearing purple shades? We talk about being as young as we feel. Oh my gosh I would sooo love to own these Oakley Sunglasses! Definitely 70s, these glasses are totally me. The description reads, “A little new wave and a little old school, FRINGE is designed for the young and the young at heart. A modern version of the cat eye shape, these are the sunglasses for girls...

July is Sandwich Generation Month

July is Sandwich Generation Month

July is always associated with our day of independence here in the USA. According to holiday insights, daily July tributes include Cousins and Parents Day on July 24, with the 26th being Aunt and Uncle Day and the 30th sharing cheesecakes and father in laws! Did you know the month of July is registered with the National Special Events Registry as Sandwich Generation Month? Source: Holiday Insights Sandwich Generation Facts The Sandwich Generation is a generation of people who are caring for their aging parents while supporting their own children.  AARP, the Pew Research Center, and The Gauardian.Uk agree the numbers are staggering. “According to the Pew Research Center, just over 1 of every 8 Americans aged 40 to 60 is both raising a child and caring for a parent. In addition, between 7 to 10 million adults are caring for their aging parents from a long distance. The US Census Bureau statistics indicate that the population of older Americans...

Follow Friday|40 and Over Top Midlife Blogs #3

It’s Follow Friday already!  I don’t about you all but oh boy my week really flew by fast. The week has been full of twists and turns. Just today I heard the experts reporting the double dip housing recession was confirmed with the release of the S&P/Case-Shiller housing price index. To that I say, well thank you very much to the federal government for falsely puffing up the market with tax dollars and credits! After 20 years this midlife woman has to look for work outside hubby’s company and outside the home. Geez I never expected the poor economic conditions would last this long! Tomorrow I have another job interview. I never imagined having to interview at midlife much less be nervous about it! One thing is for sure, some things in life are out of our control regardless of our decisions. The good thing is I’m finding opportunities and I know God has the plan already written. Experiencing these last three years, I’m definitely ready...

SSDI | Motorcycles and Miracles

Federal Deception Social Security is broke and broken according to the federal government. In my middle-aged mind, this is the ONLY truth regarding the entire Social Security plan. Politicians and government officials have offered fancy, theoretical solutions for decades. Like so many others, I am sick and tired of these big ideas; they are clearly a load of bull crap. Did you know the social security disability insurance (SSDI) service professionals assert 65% of claims filed without the representation and assistance of professionals are denied SSDI? According to the first, nationwide private Social Security disability claims services company, “Level Two – Reconsideration… Approximately 87 percent of first appeals are denied.” Additionally 62% of level three claims are approved. The backlog of claims made the average wait time about a year at level two and over 400 days at level three. Hhhmmmm. What does all of that paperwork cost OUR social security retirement program?  How does SSDI even begin to fit into...

Parent’s Choice $10,000 College Scholarship Sweepstakes

Parent’s Choice $10,000 College Scholarship Sweepstakes

This post brought to you by PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine. As a midlife mom, I can tell you our family enjoyed the savings that store brand products provided. Buying a name brand oftentimes meant eliminating something else, especially when the boys were babies. With prices skyrocketing and this sluggish economy, I can imagine how tough it is for young families today. My youngest son is in college now and I can tell you the price tag is huge! For the last 13 years, parents provide their children outstanding nutrition at affordable prices with Parent’s Choice Infant Formula, which is Walmart’s private brand formula. Parent’s Choice Infant Formula is subject to the same rigorous standards of the FDA, in accordance with the Infant Formula Act. This law requires all infant formula products must provide the necessary levels of identified nutrients required for the growth of healthy babies. This means mom and dad never have to worry about...
