Reliable Technology Reviews

Do the Research and Reaps Rewards Online shopping is a personal preference. Some consumers prefer to see and/or touch a product before they buy. Where clothes, shoes, and personal items are concerned, the see/touch/try aspect is especially important. On the other hand, electronics do not require the same sort of inspection. Over the last year alone, we have purchased smart phones, computers and computer parts, and home theatre equipment online. In addition to the retailers’ information, product reviews and customer comments were particularly influential on the final purchase. Most online shoppers agree the internet is full of paid reviews and comments. The question becomes what is a reputable and reliable review site. Product Savings To learn about the performance of computers and related product parts search New Egg dot com. Most, if not all of the customer comments there include the author’s level of experience. It seems that authors of “guru” status love to give tech advice. Since my...

Women and Social Networks

When someone says social media, the immediate thought is Facebook or perhaps Twitter.com or maybe even LinkedIn. As we all know, the social media-networking scene has exploded. There are literally hundreds of social media networks emerging targeting nearly every topic, interest group, or service imaginable. Women are no exception or strangers to this network explosion. Ben Parr, the co-editor of Mashable.com, wrote an interesting article concerning young women and Facebook. This is the intro: “Young women are becoming more and more dependent on social media and checking on their social networks, according to a new study released earlier today by Oxygen Media and Lightspeed Research. In fact, as many as one-third of women aged 18-34 check Facebook when they first wake up, even before they get to the bathroom.” Many bloggers wrote about the NBCU study when it first emerged in July 2010. The study included about 1600 women. While the study did acknowledge the use of the social...

Lap Top Giveaway, oh really?

Lap Top Giveaway, oh really?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine. As part of Charter’s back-to-school campaign, they offered a laptop-a-day giveaway these 50 laptops to two schools. Along with that opportunity, individuals could also register for a chance to win a laptop. The laptops are Lenovo G555′s with a 15.6″ screen, 160GB drive and 3GB ram. Along with the laptop came a Targus carrying bag. Anyone who ordered any Charter service automatically has a chance to win and get up to $300 cash back. The real opportunity was for parents and others to nominate their local schools and encourage their friends and families to vote for their school as well. The outcome was to win the 50 laptops for schools who were nominated by Aug. 12. Based on the nomination stories submitted, Charter chose 50 finalists and announces them on Aug. 16. Isn’t it cool that huge companies are giving back to communities?...

At our company, we have asset numbers on the front of everything. They give the location, name, and everything else just by using the computer’s asset barcode scanner or using the number beneath the bars. Customer: “Hello. I can’t get on the network.” Tech Support: “Ok. Just read me your asset number so we can open an outage.” Customer: “What is that?” Tech Support: “That little barcode on the front of your computer.” Customer: “Ok. Big bar, little bar, big bar, big bar.. . “ Recommend on Facebook Share on FriendFeed Buzz it up Share on Linkedin share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Share on technorati Tweet about it Buzz it up Subscribe to the comments on this post Tell a friend KathleenHey, there I'm Kathleen. Tips for Holiday Tech Shopping

Being a seasoned mom geek, one can imagine how much I enjoy Holiday Tech Shopping! Having children grow up in the technology era has helped me achieve this geek status. Over the years, the boys have received many tech gifts. In our house, I am the tech shopper. Here are my tips to obtain a high-quality tech deal at a reasonable (or better) price. Decide upon a price range first, consider shipping charges when purchasing online, and stick to it. Always, and I mean always compare prices with top-notch online retailers. When comparing prices be sure to include the model numbers in the comparison as well. Oftentimes products look very similar from one model release to the next. This type of comparison-shopping takes time so be sure to allow enough searching time before the actual holiday gift date. Always read the warranty information. Check the country of origin, warranty length, and exclusions. If you live in the USA be...

Website Directory Submission – DIY

Building websites for leisure rather than a profession, I prefer the DIY approach for website promotion and link building. One way to build website back-links and increase search engine optimization is through directory submission, according to internet marketer Brad Callen. Directory submission increases your back-links, as the main purpose of presenting a web directory itself is to create links to the full. Even though manual directory submission may be a time-consuming and stressful process, it is very possible to do yourself. Some believe while directories submission really helps in increasing backlinks, free submission are very deep, and they do not have that value that helps in increasing search engine results page (SERP). Others say it takes a huge amount of directory submissions for a minimal return unless your website is listed in the most reputed Directory Dmoz. My opinion, it certainly cannot hurt to submit your site to free directories. Additionally, the owners of directories classify site submissions based...
