The Best Meals Happen at Home with Publix

The Best Meals Happen at Home

The Best Meals Happen at Home is a true statement and one that I personally support for a variety of reasons. I love to cook and believe there is nothing finer than a home cooked meal. After all, Food is a universal language. Many a problem has been solved around the dinner table. In fact, Hubby and I insisted the family eat dinner together. This afforded everyone time to share daily experiences. My boys, and the other youngsters that we helped raise, support family dinners now even though they protested at the time. It is rewarding and amazing to discover the true impact of our dinnertime rule. So, when myblogspark offered the opportunity to join Publix, General Mills, Campbell’s and Unilever in this promotion I simply couldn’t refuse.  Furthermore, personal experience has proven a delicious and nutritional dinner can be prepared both quickly and economically. Looking for a super quick dinner recipe the kids will surely enjoy. Try this...

White Whole Wheat Flour – Healthier Baking

White Whole Wheat Flour – Healthier Baking

A simple diet alteration such as replacing all-purpose flour with white whole wheat flour can be an easy step toward a healthier diet and lifestyle.  The health benefits of a diet rich in whole grains is amazing. Diets rich in whole wheat and grains play a major role in reducing the risks of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, according to researchers at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and The American Diabetes Association. Some epidemiological studies have found whole-grain intake to be associated with decreased cancer risk. The abundant antioxidant offering provides valuable protection against free radical damage to our cells.   What is White Whole Wheat Flour? The whole grains council defines white wheat as a whole-flour, including the bran, germ, and endosperm, made from white wheat. Think of it is as albino wheat if you will, that packs the same whole grain healthy punch as regular whole wheat minus the red color genes. Gold Medal asserts...

Midlife Back To School Giveaway – HUH?

Why would A Midlife Woman be hosting a Back To School Giveaway? Y’all know or may have suspected being a midlife woman my boys are full-grown men. Yet I am still a huge supporter of General Mills. Truth is the brand brings back fond childhood memories, and perhaps this is the case for many of you as well. In addition, a bowl of cold cereal is still something I enjoy very much. In June General Mills celebrated their 70th Birthday and yours truly was interviewed by AP writer Carolyn Thompson. She said a Google search for General Mills returned A Midlife Woman. That is a true General Mills fan don’t you think? Flattered and flustered I didn’t even request a plug. Duh. If you are interested, this is the interview.   Back To School Giveaway One lucky winner will receive - One box of Lucky Charms® Cereal Treats Bars, One box of Golden Grahams® Cereal Treats Bars, Lunch bag, Locker whiteboard, Colored pencil set...

Box Tops, Walmart, General Mills=$25 School Supplies

Being a midlife woman has not abridged my child advocacy position in the least. Unbelievably most of my adult life was spent supporting children throughout the community, both directly and indirectly. The whole concept of child advocacy is amazing because I was not “child friendly” growing up. “I’m never having kids,” I recall complaining to mother when forced to babysit for the family. The current social culture necessitates the need child advocacy and encouragement now more than ever. Participating in the PTL, volunteering for local community events, serving as homeroom mother, youth leader, and later a youth director exposed the true blessings that are both given and received through volunteering. Currently I am the chairperson of our church day school, another volunteer endeavor.  Having served on the board for more than ten years, I was delighted to accept the opportunity to support the Box Tops for Education Program in conjunction with Walmart and My Blog Spark. The Box Tops...
