Why is it that television manufacturers always seem to advertise men enjoying the big screens? This ad for vizio tvs is a prefect example. Maybe they think women don’t enjoy watching big screen tvs or perhaps television is not as important to women. Not to mention the fact that sports are on the display. I grew up watching and participating in sports. Nothing better than watching your favorite team in an overtime situation on Monday Night football. Too bad we might not get to watch it this year. Oh sorry for getting off topic! Anyway, I take special offense to these ads because my midlife hubby is technically challenged. What button do I push for the menu? Of course, friends and definitely family members seem to know “the correct answer” and offer it up freely, as I recall. Sounds typical right? One would also assume that by midlife most marriage or relationship questions have been answered. I am guilty of that assumption and you know what they say about assume…. Midlife or not, think again because as relationships evolve new questions arise. Midlife is filled with as much emotion as puberty if you ask me. It would be nice if there were a place for relationship or marriage answers without engaging in those “correct responses” by friends or family. Before you run from this sponsored post, this is not some “rubbish for a buck” information. TwoofUs.org does offer common sense tips on keeping your relationship fresh. Sometimes the answers to relationship questions are resolved simply by knowing you are not alone. Learning how other couples deal with similar questions or feelings is comforting and for me, results in a calmer personal assessment. For example, I read Sustaining Your Marriage as an Empty [...]

For example, I read Sustaining Your Marriage as an Empty Nester or Retiree. The need to be re-connected after the kids leave is a truth and one I never considered. Life changes and disconnect can be unrealized. The blog post is very well written, prompted assessment of my situation, and offered insight I didn’t even consider. Reconnecting with hubby rekindled the old passions and gave birth to some new passions too.

“Couples who feel connected are better able to overcome the challenges of mid life. They can enjoy a fulfilling retirement not only as a couple, but as active members within their circle of family and friends. ”

Just as Content is King in blogging, Dialog is King in building long lasting relationships. Ever heard of a conversation party? This video is brief summary of what happens when people engage in a conversation party.

CSI: NY Actor Hill Harper on Relationships In this interview with Dr. Rozario Slack, award-winning actor and best-selling author Hill Harper tackles misconceptions about marriage, men and family … and how to strengthen relationships between black men and women.

While the video may not directly target midlife couples, I think it is a brilliant idea. I read another article with tips on reconnecting after the kids are gone. Pursue a hobby together, go on a date, plan a second honeymoon trip, or initiate a romantic evening at home were my favorites. Wouldn’t it be productive and fun to incorporate those tips into a conversation party? I think it would be a huge hit!

Now that I’ve shared with you, my question is how do you keep the passion going in a long lasting relationship/marriage?

Break dancing came about in my time. Raising children at the onset of the hip-hop phenomena, I cannot and did not support a lifestyle that endorses hate, the degrading of others, or the abuse of verbal freedom that SOME rappers engage in. Passing judgment, especially publically, would also be wrong. I digress. The Jay Z success story is truly amazing and worth sharing, an inspiration the hip-hop community can embrace. This Brooklyn born young man, raised in the projects by a single mom, achieved what many would classify as miraculous. Just four years ago in March, Jay-Z sold the rights to the Rocawear brand. The sale was advertised at $204 million, and according to Wikipedia, Jay Z will continue to oversee the marketing, licensing, and product development. Since that time, [...]

The sale was advertised at $204 million, and according to Wikipedia, Jay Z will continue to oversee the marketing, licensing, and product development.

Since that time, Rocawear obviously focused on reaching a broader consumer base. In addition to their original rocawear jeans and street wear, many lines and companies have been added to their corporate base. In doing so, the brand quickly expanded to international markets. This year they have chosen a beautiful and talented Melanie Fiona for their 2011 Spring/Summer Fashion campaign. Talk about growth. The video is an undisputable glimpse of the brands evolution and success.
