Eyeglass Prescription Facts

Did you ever wonder what the letters and numbers in an eyeglass prescription represent? I found these eye facts while browsing the cheap eyeglasses under the Frequently Asked Questions at greateyeglasses.com. My youngest son was fitted with his first pair of eyeglasses at fifteen months, it was a sad and joyous occasion. It took a great deal of coaxing to convince him to actually put the glasses on his face. However, once accomplished it was as if a completely new world was exposed to him. From that point forward, he didn’t want to take them off, not even when he slept! I felt very sad about his vision problems. Sounds silly to be sad when he was so overwhelmingly happy I know. What made me sad was knowing my baby boy wasn’t physically perfect. Even with that amount of vision experience, I still had no idea how many technical measurements were required for an eyeglass prescription. No wonder they ask so...

Giving Up Your Soul

Yep, I kept wondering why I survived that motorcycle crash. After years of suffering through to recovery and dealing with the sadness over the circumstances surrounding the crash I thought the answer was clear. I was spared to help others, be a light in a dark world. Offer hope and assistance. What a beautiful lie I told myself. This is a rant of sorts, seems midlife hormonal changes delivered this little five day mental state… Now that 30 years have passed I realize that I’m not a light but rather simply an enabler. I didn’t offer hope. I did for others what they wouldn’t or couldn’t do for themselves. With the title enabler comes constant self sacrifice. And I don’t mean giving up your favorite movie to take some one to the store either, that is being nice and thoughtful.  I mean giving up yourself, ignoring your wants, needs, feelings. Hell, someone who puts everyone before them self really has no time for...

Over 40 Hair and Makeup Advice

Over 40 Hair and Makeup Advice

Make up and hair style becomes a completely new experience for women over forty. Make up applications women practiced for twenty or more years no longer seem to apply. Hairstyles and colors we once wore so well are capable of adding years to the face. By practicing a few short and simple applications with make up and hair, a woman can look about five years younger. Makeup artists and beauty experts emphasize applying the correct make up products and methods to seize five years off your face. According to Jessica Liebeskind, this can be accomplished in three minutes. 3 Minute Make Up Powder Makeup, Not Too much powdery makeup draws attention to fine lines, thus adding five years to your face. Apply a light moisturizer or makeup primer. This layer is predominantly important after 40. The moisturizer acts as a barrier between your skin and the makeup, preventing foundation or concealer from filling in fine lines. Experiment – Try...

Vibrant Veggies Improve Womens Health

Vibrant Veggies Improve Womens Health

Merely one third of American women are meeting their fruit and vegetable intake recommendations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Along with vitamins, minerals and fiber, fruits and vegetables contain a type of phytonutrient called carotenoids, compounds that give fruits and vegetables their vibrant colors. Research suggests these colorful fruits and vegetables may offer breast, ovarian and other health benefits for women. The skin is most definitely a benefactor. Choosing to increase the amount of the fruit and vegetables richest in carotenoids is important for long-term preventative health among women as well as improving their skin. Where skin conditions exist, especially acne prone skin, the use of topical acne products may be necessary along with a fruit and vegetable rich diet. A few of these easy substitutions will “power up” your plate and add new flavors to your meal plan: Green: A serving of cooked kale provides triple the amount of lutein/zeaxanthin as a serving of raw spinach. Red:...
