Puppies or Babies | An Epic Battle of Cuteness

Animal Planet is ready to rumble… Puppies versus Babies! Oh my gosh this is too funny. Reminds me of the America’s Funniest Home Video TV show our family used to enjoy so much. That’s why I agreed to sponsor this post. Fond recollections of family time are priceless and need to be emphasized. The lead in for this TV show is brilliant, both species of offspring seem to instantly create a warm, fuzzy feeling. Aaawww look how cute, you have heard it said and probably said something similar as well. It is a natural reaction for baby lovers regardless of the species.

Puppies versus Babies airs Oct 29^th and continues through November. In this epic battle of cute, only one can emerge victorious… puppies or babies and kittens too! The promo video exclaims, “Get ready for the ultimate clash of cute!” Check out the Puppies vs. Babies online contest , upload your favorite image slideshow, or vote for your favorites. The top baby and puppy will win $5000 each and go head to head for the Cute Championship. All of the puppies and babies are incredibly cute and funny. Based on my viewing time there, this is one tough competition for cute.

My son Red rescued a puppy in Tampa Florida. He wasn’t denied food or water, just love, comfort, safety, and attention. An irresponsible mother allowed her young daughter to adopt the puppy. The young girl left him in a kennel in the noisy city back yard alone and frightened for an indefinite period… He may have been there for days, weeks, or more. Red could not walk away and took the puppy home. Hearing this story and later meeting Connor, I knew why my son just couldn’t resist. Connor is lovable, gentle, and darn cute too!

Now that Red is back in college, can you guess where the puppy lives? Yep, you guessed it, with Memaw and Grandpa, of course.

I have to admit, puppies are much easier to handle than babies are especially for a midlife woman like me. Perhaps the absence of grandchildren has caused a foregone conclusion… I’m voting puppies!

Summer Pet Grooming Tips from PetSmart

Living in Florida requires a greater level of awareness and care for pet owners. The four-legged family members generally need a little help to make the transition, however, it is vital for pets to stay cool when those blistering sunny days arrive. PetSmart grooming expert Linda Erickson shares her tips on preparing pets for the hot summer season. She recommends regular grooming appointments as well as at-home treatments.

Minimize the Winter Coat: It’s important to help your dog get rid of their heavier winter coat so they can stay cool as temperatures rise. Baths help to release the undercoat followed by a good brushing to remove extra hair. For an extra silky and shiny coat, milk bath moisturizing conditioner and regular at-home brushings will help the pet’s coat to be softer and healthier. Florida pet parents, please do not leave pets outdoors for extended periods without cover especially during the hot Florida summer months.

Less is Not Always Better: Some pet parents often think shaving a dog during the summer is the answer to shedding and overheating. However, a pet’s coat actually helps regulate their body temperature and protects them from the sun. The FURminator Shed-less Treatment, available at PetSmart, is an option to shaving and an effective way to help control shedding and keep pets cooler.

Swimming Safety: Swimming is a great activity during warm weather, but your dog will need a good cleaning after a swim whether in the pool or gulf. Be sure to rinse your pet after swimming to remove chemicals, salt water, or irritants from their coat. Not rinsing can result in dry skin. Attempt to keep dogs ears clean and dry after swimming. Swab the ears with a cotton ball and use a recommended ear cleaner to help remove any waxy build-up or water left behind.

Necessary Regular Maintenance: Dogs have regular, ongoing needs regardless of the season, including coat, tooth, and paw care. A good teeth-cleaning routine at home and at the grooming salon is an essential part of a pet’s health. In addition, it’s important to help keep dogs’ paws healthy with regular nail trims and removal of any extra hair so debris won’t be stuck in their paws.

To which the mama cat, spying the two robins, replied, “How about some Baskin Robbins?”

A mama mole, a papa mole, and a baby mole all live in a little hole. One day the papa mole sticks his head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says, “Yum! I smell French toast!” The mama mole sticks her head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says “Yum! I smell pancakes!” The baby mole tries to stick his head out of the hole to sniff the air, but can’t because the bigger moles are in the way. So he says, “Geez, all I can smell is molasses.”
