Make a Difference|Support Safe Drinking Water for Children

Make a Difference|Support Safe Drinking Water for Children

A well-respected midlife woman and Christian friend once told me, “Water is the gift of life. It was given by God.” Speaking with great inspiration, she explained how she believed that children who drank plenty of clean water warded of all types of illness. I followed her advice and attest to her beliefs. My boys rarely contracted a flu or cold that traveled through out their classrooms.  Did you know every day more than 4,000 children in developing countries die, simply because they don’t have clean drinking water? Join Proctor and Gamble in the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program (CSDW) to provide clean drinking water to people who really really need it.  P & G believes our help will make a difference and this now midlife woman wholeheartedly concurs. GIVE HEALTH collaborates with the non-profit P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program (CSDW) to provide PUR packets in developing countries. Developed by P&G and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, PUR...

Osama Bin Laden’s Death – Easter Sunday?

Osama Bin Laden’s Death – Easter Sunday?

Everyone has an opinion about the death of Osama Bin Laden. I, like millions of other Americans, was pleased to see that justice prevailed and know the world is much safer without him. Hubby first heard/saw it on Facebook. He says, “Hey Kath, Bin Laden is dead. Some just posted it on Facebook.” I laughed, “That is just stupid. Who posted that nonsense?” He replies, “Ummm DEAR, his voice elevated, you don’t understand as he moved toward the television and flipped to Fox News. “HE IS DEAD!” OMG, I immediately left the foodie post I was writing. The scroller read something like this – Osama Bin Laden was killed by us forces last week. The news was withheld pending release of DNA testing. President Obama would speak to the nation shortly.   As I am certain you are aware, President Obama explained that Bin Laden was killed earlier in the afternoon. President Obama spoke eloquently. He told us Bin...

E-Cigarettes New Torches of Freedom?

E-Cigarettes New Torches of Freedom?

On March 31, 1929, Bertha Hunt strode down Fifth Avenue in New York’s Easter Parade puffing a Lucky Strike cigarette alongside nine other hired young women. The secretary to Edward L. Bernays, the Father of Public Relations and creator of the marketing campaign, stepped into the throng of pedestrians in their Sunday-best clothing, as stated in a pre-announced press release in support of a woman’s right to smoke cigarettes. According to theformofmoney.com, Miss Hunt issued the following: “I hope that we have started something and that these torches of freedom, with no particular brand favored, will smash the discriminatory taboo on cigarettes for women and that our sex will go on breaking down all discriminations.” The Torches of Freedom made headlines across the nation and without doubt, the cigarette manufacturers were smiling. The electronic cigarette manufacturers should have learned from Mr. Bernays. They too have freed people from a discriminatory practice of sorts – The odor and harm of...

Your children, my children, our children

Your children, my children, our children

The number of underprivileged and disadvantaged children in our local communities is ever growing. I believe caring for children is everyone’s responsibility. Over the years, hubby and I have supported the local youth through volunteering, opening our home to local kids, as well as monetary donations. There is no good, acceptable reason for our children to live without basic needs, a sense of belonging, or a lack of love. Children are the future, a reflection of who we are as parents, as a community, as people. America’s Children in Brief: Key National Indicators of Well-Being The Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics (Forum) is a collection of 22 Federal government agencies involved in research and activities related to children and families. The forum reports based on child well-being indicators spanning seven areas: Family and Social Environment, Economic Circumstances, Health Care, Physical Environment and Safety, Behavior, Education, and Health. The report revealed in 2010 health insurance coverage rates...

End Violence Against Women – Believe World Tour

End Violence Against Women – Believe World Tour

Did you know one in three women in the U.S. will become a victim of abuse or partner violence in her life, and it is estimated some 15 million children witness violence in their families each year? Familiar with the experience and emotion involved with domestic violence, I understand why oftentimes speaking out does not come about for many of the victims. Being outspoken comes natural, is an attributes and therefore expected of me. Anyone that knows me personally without doubt will confirm this fact. A former Avon sales representative, mother of two sons, and divorcee of an abuser is more than enough motivation for me to speak out and support the Avon Foundation for Women to end violence against women. iNetVideo.com – Entertainment for Clean Water?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of iNetVideo. All opinions are 100% mine. Never complain about paying for a bottle of water again. Did you know that 4,500 people, men, women, and children, will die today from water-related diseases? Moreover, nearly a billion people on OUR earth don’t have access to clean drinking water. Clean, disease free water is one of the things most of us take for granted big time. “Ninety percent of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are to children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation.” Charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of public donations go directly to water projects. All operating costs are covered by a...
